George Kahumoku Jr.’s Slack Key Show Celebrates Anniversary and New CD Release
NAPILI – Maui’s four-time GRAMMY Award winning concert series, George Kahumoku Jr’s SLACK KEY SHOW – Masters of Hawaiian Music, will be celebrating our seventh anniversary of weekly shows on Wednesday, October 13 at 7:30pm at the Napili Kai Beach Resort.
We will present a special multi-artist show with host George Kahumoku Jr. and weekly regulars Da Ukulele Boyz (Peter deAquino and Garrett Probst) and Sterling Seaton. Guests will be Dennis Kamakahi, Hawaii’s famous songwriter and Slack Key Guitar master; legendary falsetto master, Richard Ho’opi’i, and Kauai lap steel guitarist, Ken Emerson.
A short reception before the show at 7pm, with complimentary Anniversary cake and refreshments, offers a great opportunity to meet the artists and see the array of Grammy Awards on display before the show begins.
Make show ticket reservations online at www.slackkey.com or call 808-669-3858 ($39.99 plus tax). A convenient Dinner/Show package is available. Enjoy a delicious full service dinner or a quick drink and pupus at the resort’s Sea House Restaurant and Bar, with a beautiful sunset view of Napili Bay prior to the show.
In addition, The Slack Key Show is proud to announce the release of our sixth compilation CD, Masters of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, Volume 3. The previous 5 compilations were all nominated for GRAMMY awards, 4 of them winning Best Hawaiian Music Album. Songs are chosen from recordings made of each live show over the past 12 months.
Volume 3 presents Hawaiian language vocals, a few instrumentals, and plenty of Slack Key Guitar. Included are guitar and vocals of George Kahumoku, Jr., Dennis Kamakahi, Sonny Lim, Keoki Kahumoku, Owana Salazar, Kawika Kahiapo, and Daniel Ho. Plus Hawaiian master musicians Richard Ho’opi’i (falsetto & ukulele) and Bobby Ingano (steel guitar). Also included are our young concert regulars Da Ukulele Boyz and Sterling Seaton. This newest CD and others can be purchased at the show or online at www.slackkey.com or www.kahumoku.com.
